Things To Do in Louisville That are One of a Kind

While unscheduled time will be at a premium on your visit to Louisville, there are things to do in Louisville that are unique to our city.  If time permits, these sites are worth exploring.

The Kentucky Derby Museum is located at Churchill Downs and is a short 10 minute cab ride south of downtown.  This is a 2 story museum dedicated to everything Derby. "The Greatest Race", which is 360 degree in the round high definition film, is worth the price of admission.  You can also have your picture taken in the winner's circle or test your Derby trivia.  Hours and admission prices can be found at this link

The Muhammad Ali Center is two and half levels of one of the best interactive exhibits that I have ever seen in a museum.  The multimedia presentations cover Ali's epic life and the six core values by which he lives: respect, confidence, conviction, dedication, giving and spirituality.  The museum is well worth a visit even if you are not a boxing enthusiast.  The museum is located downtown and within easy walking distance of your hotel.  You can plan your visit by clicking on this link

The Louisville Slugger Museum is all about baseball.  There is an interesting tour that takes you through the process of how a bat is made.  Yes, they are still made in America and by hand!  And they are still the bat of choice for major league ballplayers.  At the end of the tour, you will get your very own Louisville slugger.  The museum is located downtown and within easy walking distance of your hotel.  You can plan your visit by clicking on this link.

The Frazier International History Museum happens to be the location for Aaron's Bar Mitzvah party.  It is a beautiful facility.  The museum covers a 1000 years of military history, and it is a one of a kind collection.  Our Bar Mitzvah guests will be given a discount to the museum if you would like to visit on the afternoon of  the party; just let me know and I can give you more information.  The museum is located downtown and within easy walking distance of your hotel.  You can plan your visit by clicking on this link.

Want to bring something home that is really Kentucky?  Then head to the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft.  This is as much as a store as a museum.  Kentucky is one of the hottest glass blowing centers in the U.S., and at this museum, you will find works on exhibit and for sale by local and international artists.  Maybe you will find the next Stephen Rolfe Powell?  The museum is located downtown and within easy walking distance of your hotel.  You can plan your visit by clicking on this link.
