Let's Talk Politics!

Kentucky has two very important elections coming this November.  These elections are not only of local interest, but they have garnered significant national attention as well.

The Eating Schedule

Ok, we have the final schedule for all of the meals - when and where they will be and what is being served.  In this post, I will just provide the times and the venues.  As far as what we are serving, you will just have to let it be a surprise!  Trust me it will be good and I promise you won't go hungry this weekend!

Getting Ready

Nancyanne and I are busy, busy, busy getting ready for the big weekend.  It's only 2 weeks away!

Aaron's Torah Reading

The occasion of becoming a Bar Mitzvah calls for Aaron to read the Torah (five books of Moses) and a Haftarah portion, which is from the Book of Prophets.  Aaron's Torah reading is Chayei Sarah, which is the 5th weekly Torah portion in the annual cycle.

Our Synagogue

Our synagogue is Adath Jeshurun.  "AJ" is a Conservative synagogue that was founded in 1856.  The synagogue was originally located in downtown Louisville and moved to its present location in the Highlands in 1957.  The Highlands are on the other side of the big park (Cherokee Park) that we live next to.  We are fortunate that the synagogue has undergone an extensive renovation over the past 2 years, and the main sanctuary is looking brand new.  Aaron will be the second Bar Mitzvah in the re-modeled sanctuary.

Invitations....Just In Case You Forget

I thought I would post copies of the invitations.  This will be a good source during your visit of where and when the Bar Mitzvah ceremony and evening party are taking place....just in case you forget!!

Nancyanne and I moved to Louisville 11 years ago when Aaron was 18 months old.  We knew very little about our new home.  Boy, were we surprised!

How Do I Get From Here To There?

When traveling to Louisville for the "Big A" Bar Mitzvah weekend, it won't be necessary to rent a car.  We will be providing transportation from the hotels to the synagogue and all the parties.  In some cases, you could even walk.  In this article, I will cover how to get from here to there.

An Alternative Hotel: 21c Museum Hotel

Looking for something different?

Hotels

Hotel rooms have been reserved at two downtown hotels.  Both hotels are part of the Marriott chain.  Both are recently built.  Both are suite hotels, and both are easily accessible (i.e., less than a 1 mile walk) to most of the activities we have planned.  As it turns out, both hotels are in the same street block.

Welcome!

This blog is all about Aaron's Bar Mitzvah weekend.
